Fennimore Area Health Services Foundation (FAHS) officially donated $50,000 on June 17, 2024 to the Library Renovation Fund to be included in their Grant Application. The donation is in alignment with the mission statement to “to eliminate sickness and disease, educate the community and improve the health and well – being of the community.” The mission of FAHS blends with the Library’s mission as the renovation will include ADA accessibility, meeting rooms for educational groups, with the overall awareness of the impact of the library to support and improve mental health through education and social activities for all ages.
The money for this donation came from the funds received by FAHS in 2019 from funds distributed from the Good Samaritan Society Chapel Fund. FAHS was chosen as the recipient of these funds as the appropriate local 501C non profit organization. The funds were monies the Good Samaritan Society needed to distribute back to the community due to the sale of that company without the chapel being built, but individual donors couldn’t be identified. Upon receipt of the funds, a formal Thank you to the Fennimore Community was printed in the Fennimore Times to acknowledge these funds now being entrusted to FAHS.
The FAHS Board feels that supporting the Library Renovation Project fits the mission and is an appropriate way to return the Good Samaritan Chapel money to another important community project. This our way to support the community decision to select the Library renovation as the top priority at the Forming Fennimore’s Future forum held in 2023.
